Caritas Chinhoyi strives to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of life of deprived and vulnerable communities in the Diocese of Chinhoyi, through promoting, supporting, and sustaining the development of the whole human being as part of the evangelism mission of the church. About Us
Since 1972, Caritas Zimbabwe Chinhoyi Diocese exists to handle the socio-economic development programmes of the Catholic Diocese of Chinhoyi covering Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central. The primary objective of Caritas interventions is to transform livelihoods of local communities and to empower beneficiaries with the means to engage in productive and self-sustaining activities. For this purpose, Caritas Chinhoyi has identified five specific focus areas. These are;
- Institutional Capacity Strengthening
- Emergency Preparedness and Response /Humanitarian work
- Sustainable Climate resilient livelihoods and environmental protection
- Social Protection, Safeguarding, gender transformative development for equality in the sharing of resources & benefits
- Advocacy, research and learning for, ecological conversion, pro poor legislation and policies to support vulnerable groups and Protect the Environment
These focus areas will allow it to marshal sufficient resources to drive Integral Human development of society through the foundation of social teachings of the Catholic church
