Background Summary
Marymount is one of the earliest Missions of Chinhoyi Diocese established in 1946 and subsequently in 1948 a boarding facility which was a primary entity. The school was closed in 1978 at the height of the Zimbabwe liberation struggle, when teachers were forced into Mozambique to join the struggle, thereby abandoning the school.
The whole institution comprises of the Parish (Pastoral) 120 bed Hospital fully operational and now the School. When the School was closed the infrastructure survived till today. The School has been reopened after 38 years of closure.
Of the 28 Secondary Schools in the district we were established to be one with a difference by offering sciences at Advanced level and add to the one boarding school in the district from a Catholic point.
With the help from Jesuit Mission we were able to renovate our hostels, classrooms, admin block, library, Science labs (junior and senior) and computer lab.
Our curricular has got Sciences, Arts and Commercials. Right now we are in the process of refurbishing our workshop to add woodwork and metal work.
Our vision is to be a school to churn out Students to fit in the 21st Century with all around knowledge especially with provision of science subjects.
